Financial Smarties: Are those texts from Service Plus?

Posted on July 6, 2021 at 3:29 PM by Service Plus

Have you recently received a text that looks like it is from Service Plus? If you have, be aware that Service Plus does not send out texts.

Scammers will used automated dialing to send texts that look like credit offers or supposed issues with your account to gain your personal information (known as smishing).  They can do this with voicemail too (known as vishing).  Here’s how you can avoid being their next victim:

  • Don’t click on any links inside the text message.
  • Don’t follow any prompts given in a text or voice message. This includes the prompt to be taken off their calling list - that will just put you directly through to the scammer.
  • Service Plus and most other financial institutions will not request your private information via e-mail, voicemail or text - so don’t give it out.
  • Don’t trust contact information given in the suspicious communication.  Instead, look up the information using a reliable and known source.

If you are ever in doubt or think you may have given information to a possible scammer, call Service Plus immediately.
