Service Plus Credit Union was
originally started in February 1950 by teachers and co-workers
at United Township High school. We have grown over the past
fifty years to include many of the area’s school systems.
East Moline School District joined early in our history,
as did Hampton School District and Silvis Schools. In the
early 70’s Colona School District and Black Hawk College
joined our membership. At that time we were known as United
Township Schools Credit Union.
The 1990’s ushered in more changes for the Credit
Union. In 1995 we added ATM cards, Debit cards, and draft
accounts to our services. In 1996 we merged with Henry County
Schools Employees Credit Union. With this merger came our
name change to Service Plus Credit Union. Again in 1999 we
merged with Moline Postal Employees Credit Union and moved
into our present building. The new building allowed drive-thru
services and room for future growth.
Tim Charles, our current manger, has made many positive
additions to our services such as purchasing the ATM machine
in our parking lot so it's income will go to our members,
offering office space to the Moline Municipal Credit Union,
adding a second drive-thru lane. Along with the material
changes Tim has added a number of successful new product
services for our members.
We have come a long way from paper ledgers to computers,
to Internet home banking and that small office in Phyllis
Franklin’s basement. The growth and changes have been
exciting, however our service will still make you feel like
one of the family. |
